Class past B examinations in Wales in 1978.He ended his
sea going career as a Chief Engineer.

MISC to join the prestigious American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS), one of the ship’s classification society Kuala Lumpur
office as their Surveyor cum Office Manager.

- Join
Perbadanan Nasional Shipping Line Berhad (PNSL) as the Technical
Operations Manager a month after its inception.
- In
1987, he was appointed General Manager of Technical Operation
with 25 shore staff and 600 staff at sea under his supervision.
- Developed
and ensured safe, effective and economical procedures for
the management, maintenance, repair, supplies and monitoring
of vessels.
- Drafted
and implemented ISO 9002 and ISM for the safety ship management
for PNSL.
- The
ships under his care were:2
x 64,000 dwt Panamax bulk carrier, 2 x 80,000 dwt aframax
crude oil tanker, 2 x 2,000 m3 LPG tankers, 2 x 10,000 dwt
bulk carrier, 1 x 7000 dwt general cargo/container ship,
2 x 5000 dwt specialised cement carrier, 1 x pusher tug
& 10,000 dwt specialised cement barge, 2 x passenger
roll on & roll off ferries, 2 x 18,000m3 LNG carrier,
& 1 x 6,000 dwt clean product & petroleum tanker.
- Committee
member which formed the Institute Kelautan Malaysia and
the Malaysian Branch for the Institute of Marine Engineers
(IME).
- In
1990, became the Chairman for the Malaysian Branch of the
IME.
- Conducted
ship management lectures in Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM)
for sea-going officers and engineers who are preparing for
their examinations.
